By creating an account, accessing, or using AVCaption (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and AVCaption ("we", "us", "our"). By clicking "Get Started", "Sign Up", or similar, or by accessing any part of the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
AVCaption is an encrypted video hosting and streaming platform. The Service provides:
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement.
You must provide accurate and complete information during registration (email address and password). You agree to keep your account information up to date.
You are responsible for safeguarding your password and API keys. Passwords must be at least 8 characters. API keys are prefixed with avc_ and should be treated as secrets — do not expose them in client-side code or public repositories. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
Each individual may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions, abuse free tier resources, or evade bans is prohibited.
AVCaption offers three subscription tiers:

Premium and Enterprise plans are billed monthly. Storage is metered in 5TB tiers — if your total storage exceeds 5TB, your plan automatically scales to the next tier (e.g., 5–10TB = 2x the monthly price). You will be notified before any tier change takes effect.
The Free plan is not a trial — it is a fully functional tier with unlimited storage and no expiration date. No credit card is required. Free plan videos include ad-supported playback.
You may downgrade or cancel your paid plan at any time from your dashboard. Downgrading preserves all existing videos and their embed links. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods.
You agree not to use the Service to:
We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate this policy, with or without notice.
You retain full ownership of all video content, subtitles, metadata, and other materials you upload to AVCaption ("Your Content"). We claim no intellectual property rights over Your Content.
By uploading Your Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:
This license exists solely to enable us to operate and provide the Service. It terminates when you delete Your Content or your account.
By uploading, you represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights and permissions to upload, distribute, and display Your Content, and that Your Content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.
When you upload a video, the following automated processing occurs:
Processing times depend on video length, resolution, and server load. Enterprise users receive dedicated encoding workers with priority queue access. You may select which quality variants (360p through 4K) to encode for each video.
All videos hosted on AVCaption are encrypted at rest and in transit:
While we employ industry-standard encryption, no security system provides absolute protection. We cannot guarantee that content will not be captured through screen recording, browser developer tools, or other client-side methods. Encryption protects against unauthorized downloading and redistribution of raw video files, but is not DRM.
Each video receives a unique embed token. You may embed videos on any website using the provided iframe code. Additional embedding features include:
You are responsible for ensuring that your embed usage complies with the website where videos are embedded and with applicable laws.
Enterprise plan users may access AI Studio, which provides:
Enterprise plan users receive REST API access for programmatic video management. API usage is subject to:

Free plan users receive unlimited storage with no tier system. Premium and Enterprise storage is billed in 5TB tiers. Encoded video files (HLS segments, thumbnails) count toward your storage usage in addition to source files.
Video segments are distributed via Cloudflare R2's global CDN (300+ edge locations). Segments are cached as immutable objects for optimal performance. Free plan videos earn priority CDN placement through strong view performance; Premium and Enterprise videos receive priority CDN on all content.
We target 99.9% uptime for the Service, but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Scheduled maintenance, infrastructure updates, CDN outages, and force majeure events may cause temporary unavailability. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime in advance.
We do not delete videos due to inactivity — even on the Free plan, your content remains online indefinitely as long as your account is in good standing.
You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings. Upon account deletion, all your videos, subtitles, settings, and associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Embed links will stop working immediately upon deletion.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
For violations, we may terminate accounts permanently and remove all associated content without refund. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before or at the time of termination, except in cases of severe abuse.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AVCAPTION SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AVCaption, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:
We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or dashboard notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you disagree with any changes, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration. You waive any right to participate in class-action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.
